Dear Steve, Charlie, and Families:

So sorry to hear of your loss. Your mom, my dear Aunt Arlene was such a special person. Even though we lived far away, I still remember those childhood times when my mom and sister and brother would come all the way from Arizona to visit during the summertime. Aunt Arlene was such a fun person. I always remember the way she talked and I loved the way she laughed. I can still hear her in my mind's eye. I remember the stories she would tell of life on the farm as one of the Piersol children. I will always cherish those memories of her. Please accept our deepest condolences.

We will really miss Arlene's calls. Although we did not get to see her very much over the years, we really enjoyed talking to her several times a week. She will truly be missed.

Dear Charlie and Steve:

I am sorry for your loss. Your mother was a wonderful friend to my mother when we lived in Gayville in the late 1960s. I remember her being funny and warm and generous. She told us all about corn and soybeans. I will always remember walking in the back door of her house in town where she sat with my mother, having an afternoon cigarette at the kitchen table. I didn't know our mother smoked. After our father died and we moved to Tennessee, my mother kept in touch with Arlene for many years - until she died in 1989. Your mother was very lovely and remains an icon of the South Dakota woman for me.
