Hansen Kids: your Dad was a very special friend. I remember him telling me when my dad died that it didn't hit him until he caught himself leaving to store to go talk to Emil about closing for the funreral. He was here for me when I started in business and gave me a ton of support and advice. He was one of the good guys! You are in our thought and prayers.

Dear Bob, Kate and the rest of the Hansens, I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's death. It's a hard thing no matter how old we are. I didn't realize your mother had died earlier. I'm so sorry. Bob - I think of you often and wish we had taken that backpacking trip across Europe like we talked about at Creighton so many years ago. I hope things are well with you. I'll keep your family in my prayers

To the entire Hansen family, you have our deepest sympathy and prayers. Having just lost my own Dad, I know the heartache of your loss. I remember well our days in school at St. Rose and Crofton High, and going to Joe's Market for groceries. We also looked forward to hearing your mother sing at church, especially at Midnight Mass every year. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

Very sorry about your loss. Joe was a good friend and coworker. I met Joe when I started work at the HSC dietary department in 1988. We got to know each over the fact that we were both Nebraska natives with a bit of a generation gap. He had lived and worked in the western Nebraska area, early on in his bread delivery career, where I grew up, so we knew some of the same areas and people.

If I needed help figuring out things, Joe was the guy that I would seek for some experienced advice. Even after his retirement, Joe would come back to HSC and have coffee break with the gang, those were good times.

Knowing Joe, I would have to say that there were 3 things that he was proud of and enjoyed talking about. That would be his wife Kate and her Irish heritage and singing talent, his children and grandchildren's lives and of course, the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

As always the passing of loved ones is a sad time. May God help us all to see the joy, of being reunited with loved ones in God's presence.

Gary Gates

Bob and the entire Hansen family, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. I still think of that white brick building as Joe's Market. And so remember sitting on the curb of the Hansen house talking philosophy and whatnot with Bob until all hours. I'm glad to have known both your parents. They were truly Crofton fixtures ... backbone of the community types. Be kind to yourselves and each other as you remember and miss your Dad. Love to you all, Sharon

Sharon (Bogner) Anderson

I will always remember your dad and mine sitting at Mom and Dad's kitchen table with a cup of coffee enjoying a long and good friendship. May the message of Easter comfort your family. All of the Sawatzke's are thinking of you.

Cheryl Sawatzke Routh

Hansen family, I am sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. He was a very good man. When I owned the shop down the street from his house, I enjoyed him stopping in for coffee, and a visit, and to see what crazy project he was building or fixing next. I had lots of laughs with him back then. Now my heart is heavy. Take care of yourselves.

Jeff Schieffer

Tony, Bean, Snork, Dave, Bob and Kate,

Here it is, 6 weeks later, and Dean & I just found out that Joe died. We apparently missed it in the paper, and feel awful for not making it to the funeral. I was checking Wintz' site for my uncle's tribute when I happened to see Joe's name and was terribly shocked.

Please know how much Joe meant to all of us 'Becker' kids - and the 'Schwartz' kids too! Your entire family was such a huge part of our memories of growing up in Crofton. (As a coincidence, March 3rd is also the date that my Dad died, several years ago.)

With friendship and sympathy,

Pam & Dean Schwartz
