Jeanette C. Hansen, age 88, of Yankton, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Rapid City Regional Hospice House in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton with Reverend David Lund officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Irene. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton.
Pallbearers will be Gordon Smith, Dan Gran, Jim Bulian and Alan Bulian.
Jeanette was born on April 6, 1920, to John and Christine (Erstgaard) Magnus in Yankton, South Dakota. She grew up in Zahl, North Dakota and graduated from Zahl High School. She married Harley Lyle Hansen on December 6, 1941, in Yankton. They moved to Yankton in 1947. Jeanette worked at Montgomery Ward in the late 60's and then for Stan Schulte Electric as a bookkeeper. She was a volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her two sons, Lynn (Karen) Hansen of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Gary (Carmen) Hansen of Rapid City; six grandchildren, Chris Hansen of Atlanta, Georgia, Michelle Lofgren of Amarillo, Texas, Warren Hansen of Baudette, Minnesota, Christina Ward of Omaha, Nebraska, Sheena Hansen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jonathon Hansen of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Terry Lee Hansen; two sisters, Mabel Peterson and Grace Magnus; and one brother in childbirth.
