Darold Earl Dallman, age 85 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hartington with the Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be at the Hartington City cemetery with military honors by the Hartington VFW Post #5283 and the American Legion Riders. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will continue on Saturday one hour prior to services at church.
Pallbearers will be Dominic Pangrazio, Christian Pangrazio, Dayton Sudbeck, Robert Stilwell, Michael Dallman, Matthew Tenorio, Daniel Tenorio, and Chuck Hochstein.
Darold Earl Dallman was born on February 18, 1932 in Pleasant Valley, Nebraska to Julius John and Mabel Berneice (Wear) Dallman. He grew up in the Pleasant Valley & Hartington area and graduated from Liberty High School in 1949. Darold worked at the Hartington Rendering plant after high school until he served in the U.S. Airforce from 1951-1954. While stationed in England he met the love of his life. He married Joyce Kathleen Newton on February 6, 1955 in Hartington. He and Joyce lived in New Jersey from 1955-1958, then lived in England for six months. They moved to California and lived there until 1985. This is where they started their family, which would be one of his greatest treasures. From 1959-1985 Darold worked for the Orange County Marshal's Office and ended up as a Lieutenant. Darold retired and he and Joyce moved to Hartington in 1985. Darold worked for Terra and also at Carhart Lumber in Hartington. They enjoyed spending their days traveling whenever they could and they passed this love of travel on to their children and grandchildren.
Darold liked fishing, gardening and enjoyed going to his grandkids and great grandkids activities. He was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Hartington VFW Post #5283.
Darold is survived by his daughter Tonya & husband Vince Pangrazio of Cupertino, CA and their children Dominic & Christian of Cupertino; granddaughters Janeice Sudbeck and her children Delayne, Dayton, & Dolcie of Hartington ; Janelle Bridges of Yankton, SD; sister Bette Stilwell of Hartington; sisters-in-law Nancy Dallman of Coleridge, NE, Maude Dallman of Yorba Linda, CA; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joyce on May 21, 2013; daughter Kim Dallman on February 18, 2013, and infant daughter Pamela Dallman; brothers Julius, Howard, Robert, and Lowell Dallman.
