Mildred L. Baker, age 91, of Norfolk, NE and formerly of Coleridge, NE died on Friday, June 13, 2008 at the Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington, Nebraska with the Rev. Bob Bryan officiating. Burial will be in the Coleridge City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Terry Fuxa, Jeff Baker, Darien McFadden, Dan Dolezal, Austin Baker, and Gary Proctor.
Mildred L. Baker was born on May 8, 1917 on the family farm near Coleridge, NE to Ernest and Chloey (Winterwringer) Frerichs. Mildred attended Lawnridge School until the 8th grade. She married Melvin Edward Baker on December 15, 1934 in Sioux City, IA. They made their home in Dixon County, Coleridge and Hartington, NE. She was the secretary for her husbands business, Baker Propane Gas Company from 1952 to 1960.
Mildred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington. She moved to the Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk in June of 2000.
Mildred is survived by two children and their spouses, Lavonna and Francis Walter of Aurora, IL, Lyle Baker of Norfolk, NE; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Foulk of Napa, CA, Doris Jewel of Appleton, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin on March 29, 1993 at the age of 86 years; an infant daughter, Deloris Baker; brother Floyd Frerichs; 2 infant great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Eunice Baker and Patti Baker.
